Intro

Brazil is more a continent in itself than it is the Portuguese-speaking nation that dominates the South American landmass. A cascade of different landscapes and ecologies, Brazil is truly an inland waterworld, and a haven for water and wildlife lovers.

Embark on an unforgettable journey into the heart of Brazil's most treasured ecosystems—where jaguars patrol the vast wetlands of the Pantanal, red macaws swirl above Bonito’s limestone sinkholes, and the thundering Iguassu Falls pulse through subtropical rainforest.

In the Pantanal, the world’s largest tropical wetland, we’ll navigate the Salobra River in search of giant otters, tapirs, and vibrant birdlife such as the hyacinth macaw and jabiru stork. Bonito enchants with crystalline rivers like the Rio da Prata, where snorkeling reveals a dazzling underwater ballet of fish.

Ending on Brazil's southern frontier with Argentina, experience the thunderous thrill of Earth's greatest waterfall system, what Brazilians call the Cataratas do Iguaçu, or the Iguazu Falls. While there, see an avian sanctuary of 143 species. And for good measure, cross into Argentina for the day to witness La Aripuca restoration project, Guided by passionate experts, this is more than travel—it’s a reconnection with the wild soul of Brazil.

Activities may include electric boat excursions, horseback rides, canoeing on the Salobra River, and nature walks.

Please note: To enjoy lunch on your first day, arrivals must be by midday; for the afternoon tour, by 2:30 pm; and for dinner, by 7 pm.

Meal plan: Lunch & dinner

Regarded as the world's largest tropical wetlands, the Pantanal is home to hundreds of species of birds and mammals, including scarlet macaws, jaguars and caimans. Located in the Mato Grosso do Sul state in western Brazil, the Pantanal's open marshes enable easy sightings of its rich wildlife in their natural environment. Still considered a hidden gem in Brazil and with very few inhabitants outside the main gateway cities of Cuiabá and Campo Grande, the wildlife is able to live freely and safely, supported by sustainable conservation between ecotourism and landowners.
