Intro

Travel with us to the hinterlands of North East India, a region often overlooked by most travellers to India, but where headhunting was only outlawed as recently as the 1970's! The Hornbill Festival takes place in Nagaland each year, and it is a great opportunity to get a glimpse into Naga tribal culture. If you venture north into the mountains of Arunachal Pradesh, then you could also meet the Apatani women of Ziro, known for their bamboo noseplugs and tattoos. Only elderly women still appear this way, so there may not be long to meet these distinctive people.

In Ethiopia, we organise tours in the Omo Valley, which is home to numerous tribes. Meet the vibrant Karo people known for their colourful painted bodies or the Hamer people known for their distinctive hairstyles. We often schedule our tours to coincide with market days which make for a fascinating spectacle.

Papua New Guinea conjures up images of birds of paradise and exotic tribal cultures. A trip here is bound to be unlike anything you would experience elsewhere. Our group tours take you to some of these tribal communities where you will get the chance to see how they live their day-to-day lives.

We take every effort to ensure our tours are conducted sensitively so as to limit our environmental and cultural footprint in these remote places, so that these traditions remain alive.
