India Extensions

City Extensions

We offer some fabulous tour extensions in many of India’s cities. Uncover the rich heritage of Delhi on a walking tour, meet Mumbai’s dabbawalas and take the boat out to Elephanta Island, home to 8th century cave temples (and monkeys!). In Rajasthan, relax in the sublime lake city of Udaipur and explore its nearby forts. Witness Varanasi’s spirituality on a Ganges boat trip, ride the toy train in Shimla and observe Sikh rituals at Amritsar’s Golden Temple.

Wildlife Extensions

India’s national parks are amongst the most biodiverse in the world and home to incredible flora and fauna. If you’re visiting India for the first time, why not squeeze in time to visit Ranthambore Tiger Reserve, conveniently located between Jaipur and Agra. The central state of Madhya Pradesh is the wildlife heartland of India which can be accessed easily by plane, train and road. Spend some time tracking tigers and leopards in Bandhavgarh, Kanha, Pench or Satpura. Otherwise a short flight from Kolkata, Guwahati is the gateway to Kaziranga Nationa Park, home to the largest population of one-horned rhinos in the world and an incredible variety of migratory and endemic bird life.

Beach Extensions

Many travellers fall in love with the intensity of India’s cities and the charms of rural India. However, there is often no better way to end a trip to India than some time relaxing by the beach. Just a short flight from India’s east coast lie the idyllic Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Blessed with turquoise waters, diverse marine life and pristine coral reef, this is a diver’s paradise. Rustic beachside properties, delicious seafood and sublime scenery all seem a world away from mainland India. Otherwise, consider ever popular Goa with its laidback Portuguese colonial charm, or the more secluded beach towns of Bekal, Marari or Kovalam along the Keralan coast.

Often overlooked by travellers who flock to beaches elsewhere in Asia, southern India is home to the country’s best beach resorts on par with the finest in the world - from the remote Andaman & Nicobar Islands to Kerala and Goa on the west coast. Whether you want your entire holiday by the beach or if you want to take in some of the local sights as well, we can put together the perfect package for you.

Andaman & Nicobar Islands

Now with direct flights to Port Blair from many major Indian cities, the secluded Andaman & Nicobar Islands are more accessible than ever before. This little patch of paradise offers travellers the perfect place to unwind and enjoy some of the best palm-fringed beaches anywhere in Asia. Pamper yourself at the luxurious Barefoot Resort or take to the turquoise waters and discover immaculately preserved coral and marine life. Enjoy beachside barbecues and sumptuous seafood. Take a stroll along the beach and you might even spot an elephant swimming nearby!

Kerala

After you visit Kerala, you will understand why it is referred to as ‘God’s Own Country’. You can spend the day drifting along its enchanting backwaters and the night on a converted rice barge. With gorgeous views of the Arabian Sea, the relatively secluded Marari beach, just south of Alleppey, is a great way to kick back and relax. You can also indulge in a traditional Ayurvedic treatment, the ancient therapy which originated from this part of India. In between take a short trip to nearby Cochin and soak in its colonial charm with a sunset cruise on the harbour.

Goa

Occupying an envious spot on India’s west coast, Goa is India’s most liberal state, with the north known for its vibrant nightlife and the south for its sleepy laid-back lifestyle. Not only will Goa’s beaches leave you spoilt for choice, but so too will its accommodation. Whether you choose to stay at a swanky beach resort, a traditional boutique hotel or one of Goa’s Portuguese-era properties, you will be well looked after. Goa is also famous for some of the best cuisine in India with delectable fusion dishes and delicious seafood.
If possible we would suggest you plan a longer stay in Goa and venture beyond the beaches, taking in Panjim’s colourful Latin Quarter and churches, a reminder of Goa’s rich Portuguese heritage. Discover verdant spice plantations, milky waterfalls and walking trails in the western Ghats, a UNESCO endorsed biodiversity hotspot and a birder’s paradise.
