ALBANIA – AND THE ACCURSED MOUNTAINS

Many areas of Eastern Europe were closed to travellers following the Second World War – the iron curtain had come down, and would remain tightly shut for another fifty years. Today, that curtain has been lifted, and the Accursed Mountains in the north of Albania are accessible once more. There aren’t too many places left in Europe today that can truly be described as unchanged and unaffected by the twenty first century – however – the Accursed Mountains of Albania come pretty darn close.
