Dramatic mountain vistas, rolling pastures and crystal-clear glacial lakes - Kyrgyzstan is a country defined by its natural landscapes and untamed wilderness.

Intro

With a majestic backdrop of the imposing Tien Shan mountain range, Kyrgyzstan boasts of some of the most stunning vistas in Central Asia. From the vast never-freezing waters of Issy Kul Lake, to the craggy red peaks of Jety-Oguz Gorge and the alpine landscapes of Flower Valley, Kyrgyzstan is a patchwork of sublime natural environments, making it a perfect destinations for nature lovers and trekkers alike.

Uncover the country’s remarkable history from the all-but-forgotten centre of the ancient world, Balasagun; climb the beautiful Burana Tower and ponder the purpose of the mysterious ancient statues called bulbuls. Follow along the legendary Silk Road to Tash Rabat, a historic caravanserai and possible Nestorian church. More recent Soviet history is in evidence too, not least in the abundance of Lenin statues that adorn the streets of Kyrgyzstan's towns and cities.

A nomadic lifestyle is still common in rural parts of Kyrgyzstan. Discover how yurts are constructed and how traditional handmade felt is made, using time-honoured traditions - and meet the men who bond with and train hunting eagles. Journey into the lush Fergana Valley and see how the Kyrgyz have adapted to their wild environment. The warm welcome of the humble and rugged Kyrgyz people is sure to stay in your memory just as long as its spectacular scenery.
