Bosnia

Bosnia is a country that sees few visitors despite having many fascinating sites, a multi-faceted culture and an iconic capital city.

Intro

Bosnia offers a wide range of culture and adventure. Sarajevo is a fascinating city boasting an extensive Ottoman quarter set alongside Orthodox churches, and is where Franz Ferdinand's assassination set World War I in motion. Mostar's famous 16th century stone bridge is a masterpiece of Suleyman the Magnificant. Elsewhere you can visit traditional villages, Bogomil tombstones,  watermills, canyons, and waterfalls. The river Vrbas canyon is famous for rafting and kayaking but is also excellent for hiking and fishing. The imposing Ottoman town of Travnik and the beautiful waterfalls of nearby Jajce are worth visiting, as is the UNESCO heritage site of Počitelj, a fortified village set within a natural amphitheatre. Finally make up your own mind about the origins of Visoko’s controversial pyramids.
