Mark Pettengel & Jo Martin (Tailormade Vietnam & Cambodia) "A well-planned itinerary that crammed an impressive amount into 16 days, without ever feeling rushed. Cambodia and Vietnam are both fantastic destinations, offering stunning natural scenery and beautifully preserved historical sites, together with truly delightful and welcoming people. Tailormade Cambodia

For a private and personal experience we can arrange a bespoke itinerary to cater specifically to your needs. As well as the options available on our group tours, please read below for more ideas which we could incorporate on a private tour.

Temple of Preah Vihear

Founded as a hermitage in the 9th Century, the Temple of Preah Vihear, dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva, comprises a series of sanctuaries linked by a system of pavements and staircases over an 800 metre long axis. This site is particularly well preserved, mainly due to its remote location.

Water Festival

The Water Festival, or Bon Om Tuk, is the greatest occasion in the Cambodian calendar (usually around November). Celebrated to mark the end of the monsoon season and the turning of the waters in the great Tonle Sap, hundreds of thousands of Cambodians flock to the capital, Phnom Penh, to join in the festivities - boat races, fireworks and music. Street vendors fill the air with the aroma of freshly cooked food, and families picnic on the riverfront.

Angkor Wat from above

Experience a spectacular view over the temples of Angkor and appreciate the sheer scale of the complex from a helicopter.

Koh Dach Silk Island

Travel across the Mekong River from Phnom Penh to the island of Koh Dach, or Silk Island, famous for its silk weavers, traditional stilt houses and friendly inhabitants. Experience village life and learn about the traditional art of silk weaving.

Cardamom Mountains

The Cardamom Mountains are covered with dense forest, much of which is largely unexplored. The flora and fauna in the area is largely unknown though a study found over 600 species of bird, mammal, amphibians and reptiles including elephants, tigers and clouded leopards. The rivers in this mountain region are home to Irrawaddy, humpback dolphins and endangered Siamese Crocodiles. Hiking with jungle stays in hammocks as well as kayaking, mountain biking, butterfly and bird watching are all possible to arrange.

Bird-Watching & Wildlife

Visit a bird sanctuary near Siem Reap with a local ranger and understand this complex ecosystem. Search for Irrawaddy Dolphins at Kratie and walk with elephants at the Elephant Valley Project in Mondulkiri. This a unique way to understand the herd's behaviour and how they interact with each other. Helping to bathe elephants is an intimate and memorable experience. The Cardamom Mountains also offer excellent wildlife spotting and bird-watching opportunities.

Take a helicopter ride over the vast Angkor temples or into the wilderness of the Cardamom Mountains. Indulge your senses on a luxury cruise through the changing landscapes of the Mekong Delta. Treat yourself to a cambodian massage and stay in beautiful floating lodges surrounded by nature.

Cambodia has plenty for families to enjoy together. Explore temples overrun by nature, cycle through traditional villages and go walking with elephants. Take a boat out to Tonle Sap Lake, go walking in the jungle and finally relax on the beach.

We can arrange hiking and biking trips around Cambodia for all levels - around the temples of Angkor, in the Cardamom Mountains, along the coast and in remote Rattankiri. Rafting, scuba-diving and fishing can also be arranged.
