Indochina

Journey to Indochina and experience a region that today offers fascinating ancient history, abundant natural beauty, warm hospitality, superb cuisine and a vibrancy that belies its difficult past.

Intro

Traces of ancient Indian and Chinese empires characterise the landscapes of Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos, resulting in the somewhat archaic sounding moniker “Indochina”. Connected by a common landscape of steaming jungles and the mighty Mekong River, these countries also share much history. Waves of powerful dynasties, Angkor kings, Champa emperors and more recently, the trauma of US aerial bombardment, have all left their mark throughout this region.

Why travel with us ?

Indochina is a region we know intimately. Each country in the region has its own particular charms and will appeal to different people and different interests. We offer a range of small group tours in each country. For each country we offer a "Classic" or "Essential" tour which covers the highlights, usually with a few extras thrown in to make it a little more special. We also offer a "Hidden" itinerary for each country. These tours explore a little more under-the-skin of their destination, striking out into regions which see fewer visitors, usually making for a more interactive and immersive experience.

In Vietnam we also offer a culinary tour which visits the classic sites as well as learning more about the cuisine. In Myanmar we offer a "Mystical Myanmar" tour which offers the classic sights but also various regions less explored by visitors. We also offer several multi-country tours in this region based along similar principles. In many cases the Hidden tours are ideal for second or third time visitors who want to explore a different region and in many cases the classic and hidden tours run back to back so you could opt to do them together.

For those looking for a private tour in this region you can either choose to do one of our group tour itineraries, but on a private basis, or we will be happy to customise a tour to suit your interests. Peruse our tailormade options to get some ideas of additional experiences you could incorporate on a tailormade tour. Just get in touch with one of our travel specialists and we will be happy to put something together for you.
